Hi everyone! I hope you are ready for another Monday Montage Blog Hop! I have a big project to share with you today. Did you realize that some of your favorite products from the Holiday Catalog are still available? Well they are! One of my mom's friends ask me to make decorations for her daughter's first birthday party with the theme of "Winter 'One'derland". I knew the Festive Flurry stamp set and coordinating Framelits from the Holiday Catalog would be perfect!
The color scheme we went with was Pink Pirouette, Silver, and Burlap. The ensemble that I came up with included a banner, party hat, straws and mason jars, and cupcake toppers. I love how it all turned out!
The burlap shapes were made by adhering strips of the Burlap Ribbon to a piece of card stock and then cutting it out with the Deco Labels Framelits. The rosettes were a breeze to make out of the Pink Pirouette DSP (from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack) by using the Designer Rosette Die. This die both cuts and scores the rosettes for you! Lastly, I used the Typeset Alphabet Die to spell out the birthday girl's name in Silver Glimmer Paper.
I decorated some paper straws (found on Amazon) to go with the mason jars. The front snowflake is embossed in White Stampin' Emboss Powder on Pink Pirouette card stock. It is folded like a rosette to give it some dimension (see a video). Then it is backed with a Silver Glimmer Paper snowflake. The cupcake toppers were made in the same way. I even used the same straws by cutting them in half. (Note: The Frosted Finishes embellishments are no longer available. If I didn't have these embellishments, I would have used some Large Rhinestone Jewels.)
The party hat is probably my favorite part! I bought a party hat at the store to use as a template, which I traced on a piece of Pink Pirouette DSP. The silver scallops at the bottom are from the rosette die; I cut the score marks so I could get it to curve along the hat. There is also Silver Ribbon attached to tie the hat on.
It is a lot easier to ruffle the Burlap Ribbon than it looks! All you have to do is put a simple stitch down the center of the ribbon and then pull the ribbon back against the thread or twine. I used Linen Thread on the hat so it wouldn't show (I used white in the above pictures you you could easily see it). Also, I worked off of the spool of ribbon, as it takes a lot more than you would expect.
