I wanted the night sky to be richer than just black card stock and ink, so I layered several ink colors to achieve the effect I was after. The first layer of color was Blackberry Bliss. I kept it really dark in the upper left corner and let the wash become a really pretty light pink. Then I immediately layered some Island Indigo. You can't tell that Island Indigo was used, but it was the color that added another dimension to the watercoloring. The last layer of color was Night of Navy. I did it first while the paper was still moist with the other colors and again after the paper was dry. To complete the night sky I splattered some White Craft Ink all over the background and embossed the Big Dipper image. Some embellishments behind the sentiment help make it the focal point despite the strong contrast of the stars.
